The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two straight seasons.
